Academy  Staff

Kelly Bendixen, ACADEMY DIRECTOR  

Kelly is heading into his 25th year as an assistant coach and Goalkeeper Coach at the University of Puget Sound, previously serving 5 years with the men's soccer program and currently in his 20th year with the women's program.  As a former All-Conference member of the Logger men's team, he brings a wealth of experience and talent for developing goalkeepers.

Kelly holds a USSF National "A" Coaching License and National Goalkeeping License. He has a NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma and is a licensed Washington State Staff Goalkeeper Instructor for youth ages 8-13 and 13-19. Kelly has served as a goalkeeper coach and director for Manchester United Soccer School and a staff Goalkeeper Coach for Tony DiCicco's Soccer Plus Goalkeeping School.
Kelly continues to work with various youth teams and organizations across the state including Washington State Youth Soccer Development Program.

Tom Bunnell, HEAD TRAINER

Tom
will be joining Kelly's team this year and will bring with him a broad level of experience as both a player and coach.  Tom's collegiate goalkeeper experience was with Western Washington University from 1985-1987.  Tom has been involved with coaching youth soccer for over 25 years.  He has served as an assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer for Seattle University women's soccer team for 7 years and for the Seattle Sounders women's team where he was an assistant coach and goalkeeper trainer for 2 years.   

Since 2004, Tom has served as Issaquah High School Girls Varsity Head Coach where he has led the team to state titles in 2004,2006 and 2007 and captured state runner up in 2005 and 2009.  Tom has been recognized by many for his coaching achievements which include 3A State Coach of the Year in 2004, 2006 and 2007, NSCAA Regional (Far West) Coach of the year in 2007 and King County Coach of the Year in 2006 and 2009.  Tom holds a USSF National "C" Coaching License.



Jorden LaFontaine-Kussmann, HEAD TRAINER

Jorden LaFontaine-Kussmann currently plays for the University of Washington and is now going into her final season this fall. Rated the top keeper coming out of Region IV in 2007.  Jorde has played with the U.S. Youth national teams from U14 through U17 and competed for the Under-16 National team on a Japan tour, in a game against Germany's U17 team and in a camp in Boca Raton, Fla. 

Jorde captained her ODP team in 2006 and played club soccer for the Eastside Red 88, helping her team finish in third place at the Far West Regionals. Jorde went to the ODP National Championships twice, winning the first and finishing second in the other, both times winning the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper performance
.


Claine Plummer, HEAD TRAINER
  

A former All-California Collegiate Athletic Association player at Cal State L.A., Claine Plummer serves as the Goalkeeper Coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams. Plummer joined the Cal State L.A. coaching in the 2009 season and helped the Golden Eagles post records of 18-4-1 for the men’s team and 17-3-2 on the women’s team.

 

Plummer was a goalkeeper for the Golden Eagles from 1994-97. He earned first-team All-CCAA honors in 1994 and is No. 2 on Cal State L.A.’s all-time career saves list with 248. His career goals against average of 1.40 per game is No. 5

He was the women’s goalkeeper coach at UCLA from 2006-08 and he currently acts as a national goalkeeper instructor for the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Plummer also coaches at Marshall Fundamental High School, where he guided the boys team to a CIF Southern Section Division V runner-up finish in 2006-07 and was the San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year. He is also the director and coach for the Soccer Plus Goalkeeper School, where he coaches players from the ages of 12-21 in the fundamentals of goalkeeping. Plummer also serves as the goalkeeper coach at the Academy of Chivas USA for the U-20, U-18 and U-16 teams.

Kyle Wall, HEAD TRAINER

Kyle played four years at Northwest University where he was a 3 year starting goalkeeper and 2 year team captain for the Eagles.  Kyle has trained with Kelly for 5 years and has been on staff with Kelly's camp the last 3 years.  Kyle grew up playing ball for Federal Way United and attended Seattle Christian High School. Kyle graduated from college with honors in business management  and currently trains goalkeepers while working in sales.
